A skilled nursing facility is on the rise at the site of a former elementary school.
Main Street Rapid Recovery Center is under construction at 5151 E. Pima St. A $12.5 million building permit was issued for the 48,000 square-foot center.
The former Fort Lowell Elementary School, which was closed by the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Unified School District in 2010, was demolished this summer. The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ City Council rezoned the property, near Rosemont Boulevard, earlier this year.
The new center will serve up to 72 patients who need care after a surgery or injury.
Other construction activity around town includes:
- Miraval is adding 10 bungalows to its resort at 16680 N. Lago del Oro Parkway. A $3.5 million permit was issued for eight two-bedroom and two three-bedroom villas.
- The Port of ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ is adding a $13.6 million warehouse, measuring more than 238,000 square feet at its facility, 7225 S. Kolb Road.
- A $13 million permit was pulled for the 96,000 square-foot Sage ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility at 2365 W. Orange Grove Road.
- Precision Toyota, in the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Auto Mall, is getting a $2.1 million face-lift.
- ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Pavilions is expecting a new tenant for its $926,000, 10,000 square-foot retail shell building at 8020 N. Cortaro Road.
- Green Valley is getting a new Circle K convenience store. A $518,000 permit was issued for the 5,800-square-foot store at 18675 S. Nogales Highway.
- A warehouse for Ace Hardware is under construction at 7070 E. 21st St. The $400,000 warehouse will be more than 6,900 square feet.
