Café a la C’Art might seem an unlikely place to hear music, but throughout this year, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ blues blaster/R&B rocker/neo-soul crooner Connie Brannock has been lighting up the dining room every Thursday night with her various combos, from her acoustic rocking Swing Set to her smooth Mama Sings Jazz show.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, she is introducing her newest ensemble, the Connie Brannock Quartet, which will mix a few Brannock originals into the blend of jazz and soul.
“I love Café a la C’Art,†Brannock said. “I can’t get over how intimate the space is and how close you can get to the audience. Everything is local and homemade. It breathes and smiles and has a pulse of ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥.â€
Brannock, a native of Cambridge, Maryland, has been playing music in ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ since 2009, a year after she settled into the Old Pueblo after retiring from the military. Brannock, who enlisted just shy of her 35th birthday, ended her 22-year military career with the National Guard after serving in the Army including in Iraq.

Brannock, who teaches service members at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base how to write resumes, has been playing music since her 20s. In her late 20s, she had a major label record deal that she said didn’t really go anywhere.
In December, she will release her debut CD.
Thursday’s show at Café a la C’Art, 150 N. Main Ave. at the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Museum of Art, begins at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free. But reserve a spot at 628-8533; the restaurant tends to fill up.
