Ye Deletes X Account After Taylor Swift Rant & Antisemitic Posts

  • Updated

Kanye West has deleted his X account after posting a rant about Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl and thanking Elon Musk for allowing him to "vent." The rapper, has previously faced backlash for his antisemitic comments on social media and in interviews.  West has posted several disturbing messages, including tweets that state, “I love Hitler†and “I’m a Nazi [sic].†These posts triggered a content warning on his account due to his use of offensive slurs. Celebrities such as David Schwimmer & Piers Morgan called for him to be banned from the platform. Schwimmer criticized Elon Musk for allowing West to use his platform to spread hateful, antisemitic, and other harmful rhetoric.  The actor called out Musk in an Instagram post for giving West a “megaphone†with his 32.7 million followers, pointing out that his hate speech fuels real-life violence against Jews.  He also condemned the lack of outrage over the situation, emphasizing that, “Silence is complicity.†Schwimmer referenced some of West's the recent antisemitic posts, including his claims that "Jewish people actually hate white people." Despite Musk previously banning West for similar rants in December 2022, West has remained active on X, even praising Musk for allowing his controversial statements.  Despite the backlash, West continued posting during the Super Bowl. In one post, he ranted about Taylor Swift, who was at the Super Bowl supporting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.  While discussing Kendrick Lamar’s 'Not Like Us,' West criticized Swift for allegedly singing along to a song about bringing down a Black man.  Afterward, West announced that he was logging off X. He thanked Musk for the opportunity to "vent" and called the experience "cathartic,†like an “Ayahuasca trip.â€
