An armed man shot to death in a confrontation with ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ police officers on the city’s east side early Sunday morning has been identified.
Craig Yelton, 34, was shot after police say he came out of a house holding a gun as officers tried to talk to him about a claim he’d waved a gun at a neighbor earlier in a dispute over loud music, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ police say.
The shooting took place in front of a house in the 100 block of North Understory Lane, near east Broadway and North Houghton Road, police said.
After the shooting, officers immediately began giving Yelton first aid and called paramedics, but Yelton died at the scene.
The incident began shortly after midnight when TPD officers responded to a call involving weapons. Before arriving, officers were informed that a man was upset by loud music at a neighbor's house and was waving a handgun, police said.

Officers attempted to make contact with Yelton using a public address system. That is when he exited the house with a handgun, police said.
None of the four officers involved in the shooting was injured.
Detectives are conducting the criminal portion of the investigation and sergeants with the department's Office of Professional Standards are conducting a separate administrative investigation to examine the actions of the department personnel, police said.Â
