A new grocery store will be coming to the southwest corner of Broadway and South Rosemont Boulevard.
The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ City Council on Wednesday approved zoning for the project with about 50 conditions.
The planned 60,000-square-foot grocery store and six smaller, 4,800-square-foot shops would be situated around a central parking lot. A small strip mall and a produce stand would be demolished and removed to make way for the new stores.
BROTHER JOHN’S INCENTIVE
In other action, the council gave the second of three approvals needed for Brother John’s Beer, Bourbon and BBQ to receive a Government Property Lease Excise Tax incentive (GPLET).
The incentive would waive the restaurant’s property tax and renter’s tax for eight years.
An economic analysis showed the benefits to the city would be $805,000 while the benefit to the developer would be $286,000 over eight years.

Brother John’s BBQ LLC, owned by David and John Aldecoa, and WWA Wildcat House LLC, owned by April Warden, are underway with a $1 million remodel of the former Wildcat House bar.
City Councilwoman Karin Uhlich said the project will have “a tremendous ripple effect†in the revitalization of the North Stone Avenue corridor and will save the city money on crime and blight abatement.
CAID JOBS INCENTIVE
The council gave final approval for a primary jobs incentive for CAID Industries.
The company is building a new factory and plans to create 30 jobs with pay of at least $52,400 annually, according to a city memo.
The city will receive $45,500 in property taxes and $65,000 in sales taxes. while the developer’s benefit is $103,261 in permit fee waivers and construction sales tax reimbursements, which CAID will apply to job training programs.
