A ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ man was shot and killed by Glendale police this week after he was mistakenly identified as a possible suspect in a domestic violence case, authorities say.
The unidentified 46-year-old man police labeled a "transient male from ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥" was sitting in a gazebo at a public park Wednesday night when he was confronted by police officers looking for a man in a reported domestic violence case that involved a gun, Peoria police said in a news release. The Peoria Police Department is handling the shooting investigation.
Investigators continued to search for the family of the man to notify about the death before releasing his identity, Peoria police said Friday.
The incident started about 7 p.m. when a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had threatened and pointed a gun at her before driving away from her home.
She described the ex-boyfriend and his pickup truck to police.

Later, officers found the truck at Horizon Park in Glendale, the release said.
Dark tint on the truck's windows prevented officers from quickly telling if anyone was inside.
Meanwhile, officers approached a man sitting in a gazebo nearby, believing he could be the ex-boyfriend, the release said.
They told the man to show his hands. When the man made a movement toward his waistband, a Glendale officer fired "at least one" shot.
The man was struck and died at the scene. He was not armed, the release said.
After the shooting, Glendale found the ex-boyfriend inside the pickup truck with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The ex-boyfriend, an unidentified 23-year-old from Glendale, died at a hospital.
Investigators could find no connection between the two men.
