A 蜜柚直播 man is facing prison time after pleading guilty to the theft of cryptocurrency while working as a Secret Service agent, federal authorities say.
Anthony Joseph Evans, 32, pleaded guilty last week to converting property while being a federal employee, the U.S. Justice Department said in a news release last week.
Evans was working for the Secret Service in the Phoenix when federal prosecutors say he accessed cryptocurrency on a hard wallet being held in the agency鈥檚 secure evidence vault.
He then transferred the cryptocurrency, worth about $56,000, to two wallets he owned or controlled. He converted most of the cryptocurrency into U.S. dollars, transferred the money to multiple bank accounts and used it to pay for personal expenditures, the release said.
Evans faces up to a year and a day in prison and will be required to pay restitution for the value of the cryptocurrency, including any appreciation in value, the release said.
