More than 140 local high school students who are preparing to enter the construction industry will get to show off their skills Friday in a competition.
Students will compete in one of seven trade categories: construction technology; carpentry; electrical; masonry; plumbing; cabinetry and team works, which involves a four-person team building a project from a blueprint. While students compete for prizes, the sponsors will be looking to recruit future talent.
The event, a partnership between the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Builders Alliance, Pima JTED and TUSD CTE, is from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday at Catalina High School, 3645 E. Pima Street.
The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Builders Alliance, in partnership with Pima JTED and TUSD CTE hosts this annual event. Each category is sponsored by an industry partner who provides the plans and materials for the competition. Sponsors will oversee and judge the students' work.
