A woman who broke her ankle hiking in Sabino Canyon is recovering at a hospital after being airlifted by authorities Saturday morning.
The 45-year-old woman used her cell phone to place an emergency call around 11 a.m. after her injury, said Dept. James Allerton, a Pima County Sheriff's spokesman.
He said the cell phone allowed personnel to locate her along a popular trail and initiate an appropriate response to airlift her out as temperatures climbed over 100 degrees.
