A contract work extension to midnight July 8 has been approved so that Sun Tran and Teamsters Local 104 officials can continue their negotiations on a new labor contract, officials said early Saturday.
That means Sun Tran bus service will continue to operate on a regular schedule.
The current contract expired at midnight Friday, but the extension allows the company and union to resume their contract talks on Monday, a news release says.
“We are very hopeful a contract can be finalized during this time,†Katrina Heineking, vice president for Transdev America, says in a news release early today. We “are thankful to Sun Tran management, the Teamsters Local 104 and the 3rd Party Labor Negotiator Robert Guth for all the extra time and energy that’s been devoted to try to reach an agreement that will work for both parties.â€
