Photos: Rainbow Crosswalk in ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥

ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ joins many other cities across the United States by adding a rainbow crosswalk to honor the LGBTQ community and celebrate the city's diversity. An official unveiling will be held on Aug. 8th at 10a.m. in the Creative Ventures parking lot at 522 N. 4th Avenue. The Rainbow Crosswalk Project is a collaboration between Ward 3 Council Member Karin Uhlich, the Southern ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ AIDS Foundation and the Fourth Avenue Merchants Association.

According to Adam Ragan, associate director of LGBTQ Initiatives at the Southern ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ AIDS Foundation, the idea started four years ago. He says when the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ city council voted to give $12,000 for the project two months ago, the work could move forward. Lucas Boring, president of Speedy Striping, donated his services to make the crosswalk a reality. ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ joins many other cities with the rainbow crosswalk that shows the LGBTQ community is honored and welcome.
