A minimum custody prison inmate from Pima County who walked off a supervised work crew Wednesday near Safford was captured Thursday, officials said.
Juan C. Nunley was convicted of theft and trafficking in stolen property in Pima County in 2014 and was sentenced to seven years in prison, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Department of Corrections spokesman Andrew Wilder said in a news release.
Nunley was found Thursday afternoon hiding in a drainage ditch in Safford, according to a news release from the DOC. He was taken into custody without incident and will face charges for escaping, the release said.
Nunley was being housed at ASPC-Safford and was last seen at the 11 a.m. count while he was assigned to a work crew near the prison's sewage pond, Wilder said.
The department of corrections has dispatched chase teams, tracking dogs and a fugitive apprehension unit to locate Nunley, with local authorities also assisting in the search.
