The driver of a semi-truck was seriously injured Thursday morning, after a crash involving a car and a second semi-truck on westbound Interstate 10 near Marana.
At about 4:30 a.m., Northwest Fire District and the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Department of Public Safety began receiving 911 calls about the crash, which happened just before the Avra Valley offramp, Capt. Brian Keeley, a Northwest Fire spokesman, wrote in a news release.
No injuries were reported by the drivers of the car and one of the semi-trucks, but the driver of the second truck was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters, Keeley said.
The driver was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
Traffic in the area is restricted to one lane while DPS investigates the cause of the crash.
Shortly after 7 a.m., DPS tweeted that it would be at least two hours before the roadway was expected to be fully reopened.
