鈥淭owers of a Martian Odyssey鈥 鈥 a multiple-component sculpture inspired by the movie 鈥2001: A Space Odyssey鈥 鈥 was installed recently along the Rillito River Park section of the Chuck Huckelberry Loop trail system.
The donated sculpture is on a section of the trail along the Rillito at Dodge Boulevard, adjacent to Brandi Fenton Park.
It鈥檚 attributed to artist Art Neptune and consists of eight steel tubes ranging in size from 8- to 17陆-feet tall, with all but one featuring plasma-cut holes of different designs.
鈥淭he newly installed art pieces along the Loop are amazing and create a nice visual effect for not only Loop users but also for the traveling public along Dodge Boulevard,鈥 said Heather Ruder, a program manager in the county鈥檚 Project Management Office.
Ruder began working last year with sculptor Jeff Timan to create a site for rotating art pieces at the Dodge Boulevard site.

Timan, who is part of the ownership group of the Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch, co-founded with fellow artists Barbara Grygutis and Steve Kimble. Its aim is to increase the presence and accessibility of public sculptures in the region.
