U.S. interior secretary reflects on Biden's apology for Indigenous family separations

U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, who launched an investigation into the federal boarding school system that separated Indigenous children from their families to try to assimilate them into white society, spoke ahead of President Joe Biden's formal apology on Friday. 'Today is a day for remembering, but it's also a day to celebrate our perseverance,' said Haaland, who is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna Tribe in New Mexico.
