Get a deeper understanding of the area’s fire, rain and sunny days during “A look at ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ weather: What’s happened, what to expect,†a Star panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in the ballroom of the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.
Panelists will discuss some of the questions on many ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ans’ minds: What does this heat trend bode for the late spring and summer? What impact might it have for the fire season? What impact might be seen for the monsoon?
Panelists include:
- Tom Beal, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ science reporter, moderator.
- Mike Crimmins, an associate professor with the Department of Soil, Water, and Environmental Science at the University of ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ and a climate science extension specialist for ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Cooperative Extension. He compiles and interprets water and weather data for CLIMAS, the Climate Assessment of the Southwest.
- John Glueck, National Weather Service ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ senior forecaster and climate program leader.
- KOLD-TV chief meteorologist Kevin Jeanes, who’s on the First Alert weather team and gives daily forecasts and updates for television and the Star’s weather page.
- Heidi Schewel, public affairs specialist with the Coronado National Forest
