A recent letter by Loyal Johnson (parroting Trump) that bemoaned the financial loss of the Biden administration’s selling leftover border steel and replacing it to build more wall was soundly rebuffed by John Bingham’s letter. Trump’s 455 miles of 30-foot-tall border wall of steel bollards filled with concrete and rebar welded together at the top cost an estimated $18.4 billion to construct. Mexican coyotes easily cut bollards using hand-held, cordless grinders to create swinging doors for migrants anywhere along the border. A De Walt cordless grinder was on sale at Home Depot for $99 -- 6.6% of the minimum $1,500 each migrant pays to cross. From October 2018 to September 2021, the wall was breached 3,200 times. A full-time Border Patrol crew welds the cuts. Building the ineffective border wall is the real past and future outrageous cost to American taxpayers.
