PHOENIX — It's official. Fans and reporters on Friday welcomed Deandre Ayton as the newest member of the Phoenix Suns after the franchise drafted him No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft. Ayton took a flight from New York to Phoenix on limited sleep and spent Friday afternoon greeting the crowd at Talking Stick Resort Arena.Â
Among Ayton were the Suns' other draft picks: Villanova's Mikal Bridges, Colorado's George King, and French point guard Élie Okobo.
Suns GM Ryan McDonough called the afternoon a "historic day for the franchise" and was thrilled to start a new era of Suns basketball with his star big man at the forefront.
