QUOTES
UA coach Rich Rodriguez on Green’s performance: “He’s everything that’s right about college football. He graduated in three years. He waited his turn. He does anything and everything. He wanted this opportunity. He’s played well all year. In between the tackles, he’s a horse.â€
Green on Schooler’s pass breakup to win the game: “I didn’t watch it. I was looking at my helmet. Then I looked up at the last second, and (Schooler) batted it down. There was like a moment of silence. Nobody was sure if there was a flag or not. Then there wasn’t. And everybody just went crazy. It was a really good feeling.â€
Wolma on Cal paying undue attention to Tate: “We figured as we get deeper into Pac 12 play and we play more teams they’re going to have more answers for Khalil and his running ability. They’re going to shadow him. He played a really great game, and we had guys step up all around to make plays. That helped.â€
UA safety Dane Cruikshank on the defense’s third-down struggles: “That’s bad on us. We gotta get in the film room and fix it up. We’ve got a lot of things to fix up. It wasn’t a pretty win, but we got the W. At the end of the day we’re all happy. Another week to get better.â€
Tate on the last play: “It was big. I was standing around the 30-yard line. He deflected it, and everybody was (hesitating) to go out on the field. They’d been throwing a lot of flags the whole game. You didn’t know what was coming. When I didn’t see any dirty laundry, I knew we had the victory and we sealed it.â€
Cal coach Justin Wilcox on his decision to go for two: “I felt like it was the best chance for us to win the game. Based on what was happening, that was the best chance for us to win. We had a good play, and we had been doing good things offensively, really most of the night, other than the turnovers.â€
