ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥

The volunteer ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Symphonic Winds plays Saturdays at Udall Park’s László Veres Amphitheater, 7600 E. Tanque Verde Road, beginning Saturday, May 13.

The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Pops Orchestra, comprised mostly of ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Symphony Orchestra players, takes the stage Sundays at Reid Park’s DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road.

Admission is free for both and concerts, under the baton of László Veres, music director of both orchestras, begin at 7 p.m.

ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Symphonic Winds Music in the Park

• May 13: “Stars of the Futureâ€� featuring tuba soloist Thomas Gerald from Catalina Foothills High School and Wolfram’s “The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ March.â€�

• May 20: “Enchanting Sound of the Cello,� with TSO principal cellist Anne Gratz performing Saint-Saëns “Allegro Appassionato� for Solo Cello.

• May 27: “An Evening with John Philip Sousa,� with TSO principal trumpet Katie Miller taking up the cornet in Clark’s cornet solo “From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific.� Works by Sousa and Debussy are also on the program.

• June 3: “Clarinets in the Night — Remembering Nancy Albrecht.� The concert, dedicated to the late winds clarinet player, includes John Williams’ “Fantasy of Flight and Ponchielli’s ‘Il Convegno� Duet for Two Clarinets.

ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Pops Orchestra Concerts Under the Stars

• May 14: “Mother’s Day and Stars of the Future,� featuring young violinist Kai Skaggs and guitarist Ryan Chen and “Tribute to Mother’s Day, My Yiddishe Momme� and a tribute to Big Band legend Benny Goodman.

• May 21: ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Boys Chorus guest with the music of Stevie Wonder and Broadway tunes.

• May 28: “John Philip Sousa in the Park� celebrating Memorial Day.

• June 4: Powerhouse pops with Crystal Stark debut her symphony show “Last Dance — A Tribute to the Music of Donna Summer.�

• June 11: “1812 Overture,� the way the orchestra has concluded its springtime series for many of the past 62 seasons.
