ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ was nicely represented at Thursday night’s Governor’s Arts Awards event in Phoenix.
Katherine Josten received the 2017 Artist of the Year award, and David Andres received the award for arts educator.
Josten is founder of the Global Art Project, an annual event designed to promote peace through a massive art exchange. Her paintings are in museums across the country, and she is the author of the book "Visions of Global Unity: Inspired Images from the Global Art Project."
Andres teaches at Pima Community College, where he also manages the Louis Carlos Bernal Gallery. As an artist, he works in the mediums of photography and printing.
The Old Pueblo was also well represented among the The Pioneers of Advocacy honorees: Tapped for their work in philanthropy and arts leadership were ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ans Dino and Beth Murfee DeConcini, Katie Dusenberry, and Shirley Estes.

The Governor’s Arts Awards were established in 1981 and are administered by the arts advocacy group ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Citizens for the Arts.
