Drones will be zipping overhead at the University of ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥â€™s Biosphere 2 on Saturday, March 24. It’s all part of the Drone Racing League, which brings high-speed drone races to venues around the world
The event is being filmed for broadcast on ESPN and other networks in more than 75 countries,
A dozen pilots will fly custom-built drones, which can top 90 mph, according to a press release. They will zip through a three-dimensional course in hopes of winning the chance to compete in the season finale in Saudi Arabia.
Biosphere 2 will get into the spirit with a 9 a.m.-4 p.m. event zeroing in on the convergence of the physical, digital and biological worlds.
In addition, you’ll find hands-on experiences with drones, get the chance to study the science behind autonomous vehicles, see demonstrations of remotely operated vehicles and learn more about robotics and drones and the ways they support earth science.
