One person was found dead in an early morning house fire Friday on the northwest side.
Shortly after 3 a.m., the Northwest Fire District said it received calls about flames in the 5200 block of North Gerhart Road and West Ver Del Coyotito, which is northwest of North Silverbell Road and West El Camino Del Cerro.
Northwest Fire said its first units found the home "heavily involved in fire and a portion of the roof compromised." Firefighters were forced to put out the fire from the exterior of the house.
Firefighters were able to check the home's three bedrooms and found them unoccupied. After fighting the blaze from outside, firefighters moved inside the home and located one person dead.Â
It took about 40 minutes for more than 20 firefighters to bring the fire under control, the release states.
