A 62-year-old man died after injuries sustained in a Jan.4 pedestrian collision, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ police said. It is the first fatality from a pedestrian collision in the city.
Oscar Hernandez was struck by a 2017 GMC pick-up truck traveling northbound on 12th Avenue through the West Drexel Road intersection around 6:20 p.m.
Detectives determined Hernandez was not in or near a crosswalk when the collision occurred. The driver stayed at the scene of the collision, according to a news release received Jan.13.
ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ police blocked off the 12th Avenue roadway between Drexel Road and Canada Street due to the investigation of the incident. Roadways reopened around 9:30 p.m.
Hernandez later died from the life-threatening injuries on Jan.7.
Police determined speed was not a factor in the collision. The driver was not arrested or cited by police, Sgt. Pete Dugan said.Â
