With more than 20,000 stray pets entering Pima County shelters each year, three ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ animal welfare agencies have joined forces to bring free micro-chipping to pet owners.
After receiving 1,000 donated microchips from the American Kennel Club, Pima Animal Care Center teamed up with the Humane Society of Southern ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ and No Kill Pima County for a community wide “Microchip Marathon,†said Vanessa Ford, a HSSA spokeswoman.
On June 24 from 9 a.m. to noon, free micro-chipping will be available at the following locations while supplies last:
- Companions for Life Center, 3465 E. Kleindale Road.
- Pima Animal Care Center, 4000 N. Silverbell Road.
- Marana Community Center, 13250 N. Lon Adams Road.
- Twin Peaks Veterinary Clinic, 7555 W. Twin Peaks Road.
- ABC Clinic, 375 W. Ajo Way.

Twin Peaks Veterinary Clinic will also be offering free micro-chipping every Thursday in June from 5 to 7 p.m.
Two other free clinics will be available through Asavet and No Kill Pima County.
