A 19-year-old man will serve prison time for his role in a deadly carjacking attempt at a Walmart.
Eduardo Carranza was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty in November to second-degree murder, said Krisanne LoGalbo, a spokeswoman for Pima County Superior Court.
On Feb. 27, 2019, Carranza was with Francisco Morales and Juan Andres Allen, both 18, and Anthony Angel Perez, 17, when they tried to steal a car at gunpoint in the parking lot of an east-side Walmart Supercenter.
The man whose car they tried to steal pulled out his own gun and shot Allen, killing him. The man told police he feared for his life.
Perez was sentenced to 30 days in jail and to probation and Morales was sentenced to probation for their roles in the case.
