Since someone crushed the feet from a Baby Jesus statue and decapitated another of a disciple, a downtown area landmark is closed until further notice.
The vandalism happened during the Christian Holy Week at Garden of Gethsemane/Felix Lucero Park, 602 W. Congress St., near the Santa Cruz River.
The city commissioned artist Greg Schoon to restore the sculptures in 2013, using a $51,000 grant from the Salvador Foundation.
Schoon created molds of some of the pieces during that project, which will help with repairs this time, said parks administrator Peg Weber.
She wasn鈥檛 sure yet how much the repairs would cost.
鈥淔or a piece that鈥檚 been there since the 鈥40s we鈥檝e actually had very little vandalism,鈥 she said.

Once, many years ago, all of the pieces were beheaded, Weber said. Within the last three years there have been minor vandalism incidents.
The vandalism was discovered Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME, an anonymous tip line.
