A pedestrian struck and killed by a minivan on the north-side of town Monday night was identified as David Rhoades. He was 66.
Rhoades was not in or a near a crosswalk, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Police Department spokeswoman.
Shortly after 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 2, officers went to the 1700 block of East Prince Road, for reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian, said Bay.
Paramedics with the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Fire Department arrived first at the crash and gave first aid to Rhoades, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Bay said.
The driver of the minivan wasn't injured and remained at the scene, Bay said.
Traffic detectives learned that the 2004 Oldsmobile minivan was headed west on Prince from North Campbell Avenue in the curb lane, with another vehicle driving next to it in the median lane. The vehicle in the median lane began to slow and the pedestrian, who was crossing the road from south to north, was struck by the minivan, Bay said.

Police do not believe that speed or alcohol were factors in the case, Bay said.
No citations were issued and the investigation is ongoing.
Since January, there have been 45 traffic fatalities in the city, compared to 41 at this time last year, according to police data.
