The problem with Donald Trump showing us how to play The Art of the Deal is that he is playing with real people whose lives are thrust into turmoil as he fires hundreds of thousands of federal workers, then after protests, rehires some and fires yet others.
He threatens 25% tariffs, or 20%, settles for 10%, then pauses tariffs for some and not others, confusing and angering long-time allies. Supposedly, tariffs will cost $1,300 - $1,800 annually for the average household. For Mr. Trump and his billionaire buddies, pocket change. For millions of Americans, it's the difference between being able to pay rent, or buy medicine or food each month.
He delights Putin with his staged blowup with President Zelinsky in the Oval Office. You want those rare earth minerals, right? Putin will get his share, too.
Stop playing your games, Mr. Trump. We are not impressed.
