Aspiring agent Christian Dawkins and Adidas representatives Merl Code and Jim Gatto were all found guilty of fraud last week, and are expected to spend at least one year in prison. The three-week trial included mentions of a handful of players and coaches associated with the Wildcats, including those of Miller, former associate head coach Joe Pasternack and No. 1 draft pick Deandre Ayton.Â
Former UA assistant Book Richardson was arrested as part of the federal probe into college basketball, and is scheduled for an April trial. He is facing charges of soliciting bribes as an agent of a federally funded organization, and of two counts of fraud. Last week's verdict has likely reduced Richardson's leverage in striking a plea deal, legal experts say. Â
Sunday's ESPN report said Dawkins, the aspiring agent, had a plan to pay former Wildcat Rawle Alkins while he still a student-athlete at the UA. It also listed a log of 13 phone calls of 5 minutes or more between Miller and Dawkins, who represented prospect Brian Bowen Jr. in his recruitment. Bowen's father testified this month that Dawkins told him of a $50,000 offer from ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ in exchange for his son's commitment. The younger Bowen eventually chose Louisville.
Miller has not been directly implicated in either the ongoing federal investigation or in last week's trial.
