Jordan GeistÌýin the shot put,ÌýBryant O’GeorgiaÌýin the high jump, and the women’s 400-meter relay team recorded strong performances Saturday in Sacramento to advance to the NCAA track and field championships in two weeks.
Geist threw 66-6 to finish second in Saturday’s shot put. On Friday, Geist also advanced in the discus. O’Georgia cleared 7-1 to advance in the high jump by tying for seventh.
The women’s 400-meter relay qualified by running 44.84, the 11th-fastest time of the event.
The qualifying athletes join five other Wildcats headed to the NCAA finals in Eugene, Oregon. They areÌýCollins KibetÌýin the 800 meters,ÌýMaksims SincukovsÌýin the 400-meter hurdles,ÌýTurner WashingtonÌýin discus,ÌýBailey RothÌýin the steeplechase, andÌýAlyssa ThompsonÌýin the heptathlon.
Justice SummersetÌýtied for 10th in the high jump, and results of a jump off were not available when the Star went to press. The 600-meter relays for both men and women were also yet to be contested.
