ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥â€™s new tight ends coach is a former colleague of new UA offensive coordinator Seth Doege. The Wildcats hired former Marshall tight ends coach Josh Miller on Thursday.
In a released statement, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ head coach Brent Brennan said, “We are excited to welcome Josh, his wife Abigail, and his children Ezra, Malachi James and Adeline Grace to the Wildcat family!â€
Miller replaces former tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Matt Adkins, who was dismissed on Saturday after one season. Adkins had one year left on his two-year contract and unless he lands a new job, he’s owed $375,000 for 2025.
Miller worked with Doege the last two seasons at Marshall and Purdue. At Purdue in 2023, Doege and Miller worked under former Texas Tech standout quarterback Graham Harrell, who was the Boilermakers’ offensive coordinator. Miller was an offensive analyst at Purdue.

When Doege became the offensive coordinator at Marshall, Miller became the Thundering Herd’s tight ends coach.
At the end of the 2024 regular season, Marshall ranked 71st in college football in yards per game — 40th in scoring offense, averaging 31.8 points per contest. Marshall’s quarterbacks combined for 27 touchdowns and only four interceptions in 2024. Marshall had a balanced offensive attack with 2,354 passing yards and 2,622 rushing yards.
Before his lone season at Marshall, Miller served as the offensive coordinator at Saginaw Valley State and led the Cardinals to a 7-4 record in his first season in 2021. Saginaw Valley State ranked third in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring offense (27.6 points) and averaged 311.7 yards per game.
When he was a lower-level offensive assistant at Bowling Green in 2018, Miller coached All-MAC receiver Scott Miller, who recorded 71 receptions for 1,148 yards and nine touchdowns. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Miller in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for the Bucs’ Super Bowl-winning team led by quarterback Tom Brady in 2020.

Josh Miller inherits a tight ends group that recently lost Keyan Burnett, a longtime teammate of quarterback Noah Fifita who transferred to Kansas after three seasons at ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥, and Dorian Thomas, who transferred to New Mexico. The Wildcats return former San Jose State transfer and senior Sam Olson, who had 13 catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns last season, along with redshirt junior and Phoenix native Tyler Powell, redshirt senior Roberto Miranda, redshirt junior John Hart and redshirt freshman Dylan Tapley.
In the transfer portal, ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ added receiver-converted-tight end Cameron Barmore, a sixth-year senior from Mercyhurst, an FCS school in Pennsylvania. Barmore caught 73 passes for 978 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Lakers last season. ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ signed three-star Northern California tight end Kellan Ford for its 2025 recruiting class.
With Miller on board, the only vacancy on ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥â€™s coaching staff is the special teams coordinator, which Brennan recently said the Wildcats are “still working through.â€
