It’s doubtful anyone in the NFL keeps records of coaching legacies, but if anyone researches the background of former ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Wildcats Brant Boyer, Dave Fipp and Tom Quinn it could be that the UA would become known as “Special Teams U.â€

Boyer, a Desert Swarm linebacker, 1992-94, was hired to be the San Francisco 49ers special teams coach last week. He has spent the last nine years as the New York Jets special teams coach, and before that was a special teams coach for the Giants, Browns and Colts dating to 2009.

Fipp, a starting UA safety in the late ’90s, has been the Detroit Lions special teams coach for four seasons. Before that, he was in a similar position for the Dolphins, 49ers and Eagles dating to 2008.

And Quinn, a reserve linebacker at ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ in the late 1980s, was hired last week by new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel to be the Pats’ special teams coach. Quinn began his NFL coaching career in 2006, working for the Giants and Titans.
