At 11:25 a.m., a 911 caller reported seeing a man grab a woman and forcing her into a house in the 6000 block of South First Avenue, which is in a neighborhood near South Campbell Avenue and East Bilby Road.
When police arrived at the house, one man ran away and the other ran inside the house, Dugan said. Police surrounded the house and saw one man exit through the back of the house and jump over a wall.
That man, later known as Palomarez, was taken into custody and booked into jail, Dugan said.
The victim came out of the house and told officers that at least two men armed with guns kicked in a door and made their way into the house. She said the men demanded money and narcotics, but she told them that no narcotics or money were in the house.
She told police that the men forced her around the house. Dugan explained that is how the woman received minor injuries.
Officers with police dogs, hostage negotiators and the Special Weapons and Tactics team responded to the scene to contain the house. Police also combed the neighborhood in search of the second man who ran from the house.
Detectives searched the house and saw no evidence of narcotics or narcotics sales, said Dugan. He said the address also has no history of drug activity.
A vehicle near the scene that belonged to a suspect in the crime was also searched, Dugan said.
Neighborhood streets in the area were blocked off for about five hours. Sierra 2-8 School and Sunnyside High School were put on lockdown for several hours. The schools are in the Sunnyside Unified School District.
