The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ Wildcats gave up five runs in the first five innings of Saturday’s game against No. 5 Oregon. Then, inexplicably, things got even worse.
Hard, cold rains forced officials to suspend Saturday’s game in Eugene. The teams will continue at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the Ducks leading 5-0 with nobody out in the top of the sixth. Game 3 of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m.
This all assumes that the games can be played. Weather reports call for a 40 percent chance of rain Sunday.
Oregon scored three times in the first inning Saturday, and added two in the fifth. That was enough to chase UA starter Alyssa Denham, who exited after allowing eight hits, two earned runs and four walks. She struck out one. Gina Snyder made her UA debut in relief, and retired both of the batters she faced.
The Wildcats managed just one hit off Oregon pitcher Miranda Elish, a single by Jessie Harper.
