蜜柚直播 Unified School District, which had hoped to reopen Friday after closing for walkouts Thursday, has officially closed its schools for both days.
The Marana and Flowing Wells school districts, which also announced Thursday closures only, extended their closures to Friday as well.聽
TUSD Superintendent Gabriel Trujillo told reporters yesterday that he hoped the walkout would only last one day, and that the district would be able to reopen schools Friday.
He noted, however, that as of Tuesday morning, nearly 1,300 of the district鈥檚 3,200 teachers had already requested a sick or personal leave day for Friday, and that schools remaining closed Friday was 鈥渧ery likely.鈥
In a post on its website, the district said parents do not need to report students absent during either day, and that the school year will not be extended at this point.

鈥淚f the walkout continues long-term, the school year may be extended,鈥 the notice stated.
Food service will still be offered at all school sites, free for all children up to 18 years old.
Breakfast will be available from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at all schools. Adults can purchase breakfast for $2 and lunch for $3 each.
鈥淧arents should accompany their children as the district will not be able to provide supervision. Please note that children will only be allowed on campus during those meal times,鈥 the district stated.
All preschool programs and before- and after-school programs will also be closed. Fees will be credited for days closed due to a walkout. The Brichta and Schumaker centers will be open and will operate normally.
